In general, professional development/continuing education endeavors (activities) are defined as events in which the individual receives education (e.g., attending a P-Card conference), as opposed to training delivered, or events led, by the individual (e.g., conducting cardholder training).

Routine activities completed as part of your job generally do not count within the category of professional development or continuing education. Instead, P-Card end-user program management or provider account management work experience is a separate point-eligible endeavor.

Guidelines for professional development/continuing education include activities (e.g., classes, seminars, workshops, webinars, etc.) that possess one or more of the following criteria:  

• reflect P-Card (or other Commercial Card types) in the title
• include Commercial Card content
• focus on building skills directly relevant to P-Card program management as opposed to general skills  

Point Value
The general rule is a minimum of four hours of P-Card and/or related content—up to one full day—to potentially earn one full point. The focus is on the amount of qualifying content versus the entire duration of the endeavor. For most endeavors (e.g., a conference, event), the point maximum is two.

Another consideration is how strongly the qualifying content pertains to P-Cards. At the top of the spectrum are endeavors in which the entire duration offers P-Card-specific content for optimal point value. The rest of the spectrum—related, but not P-Card-specific content—will generally have a lower point value.
