When eProcurement (i.e., eCommerce) systems created a buzz in the late 1990s, many organizations improved front-end purchasing processes. Unfortunately, they often forgot about the back-end settlement and were still relying on paper-based invoices and check payments. While progress has been made in this area, there is still great opportunity for improvement. To optimize eProcurement systems, automated data integration with other systems and electronic payments are keys to success.
