eCommerce giant Amazon is launching a business-to-business (B2B) hub for companies in India, according to multiple news reports.
The marketplace—AmazonBusiness.in—is designed for businesses such as small offices, department stores, drugstores and restaurants. Members will be able to purchase items such as business supplies and products for resale, at wholesale prices and in bulk quantities, according to Amazon.
The service is currently only available to businesses in the Indian city of Bangalore.
“With Amazonbusiness.in, businesses now have an opportunity to unblock their working capital as they no longer need to face issues like inconsistent stock availability and long vendor lead times," Amazon said in a statement to The Hindu. "They can order any day of the week and get 1 to 2 day delivery from Amazon’s reliable delivery service. They also get competitive and transparent prices and invoices with their VAT and CST identification numbers.”
Great news! India is the second largest populated country on earth. This will certainly help Amazon to reach out to more consumers and boost their sales. I am not sure about the payment eco-system in India. However, Amazon will probably help to boost the use of electronic payments.
