Apple CEO: We Want Apple Pay in China

Wednesday, May 13, 2015   (0 Comments)

Apple is looking to expand its Apple Pay mobile payments service into China, the company's chief executive said this week, according to Reuters.

CEO Tim Cook told the official Xinhua news agency that Apple is in talks with Chinese banks and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd about launching Apple Pay in the country. Alibaba affiliate Alipay is China's largest payments service, Reuters noted.

"We very much want to get Apple Pay in China," Cook told Xinhua while visiting the country, according to the Reuters report. "I'm very bullish on Apple Pay in China."

Apple Pay launched in the U.S. last October. The service is next expected to expand into Canada this fall, The Wall Street Journal reported last month.
