Reserve Bank of Australia | Commercial Card Interchange

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) released the Review of Card Payments Regulation Conclusions Paper in May 2016.

Despite arguments that four-party commercial cards will not be viable for issuers unless a higher interchange cap was enforced the RBA decided against providing special treatment for commercial cards.

According to Box D: Likely Implications of Regulatory Reforms, The caps on maximum interchange rates will bring down interchange fees on commercial cards issued under four‐party schemes, which may result in some reduction in rebates or increased fees on these cards.
