Proposal to delay debit interchange regulation rejected in Senate

Senators Tester and Corker proposed an amendment on June 7, 2011, that would have delayed debit interchange regulation resulting from the 2010 Durbin Amendment. However, on June 8, the Senate voted against the amendment, so debit interchange regulation continues to loom ahead for July.

Stepping out of the Program Manager role, the question remains in my mind: Is the debit interchange regulation good for us as consumers? In other words, will the merchants pass along the savings?
