CPCP Recertification Overview

Maintaining the CPCP Credential

This page is intended for current CPCPs, especially those seeking to maintain their certified status.

 

 

When You Earn the CPCP Credential
  1. Retain your CPCP certificate, noting the expiration date of your three-year certification period. If desired, see also the table of CPCP groups and the associated expirations.
  2. Review the Credential Statement of Use & Code of Ethics.
  3. Ensure that you retain a current member profile (member or complimentary subscriber) with the NAPCP, so that you receive important communications.
  4. Become familiar with the two recertification methods listed below as soon as possible.
  5. Determine which method you will want to pursue; both methods require careful planning
  6. Learn how to use the Certifications Journal to keep track of your points. Watch this short demonstration to learn more.
Overview of CPCP Recertification

The CPCP credential is valid for three years.

  • Refer to your CPCP certificate for the exact dates.
  • Learn more about the certification period, including what to do if your credential has lapsed/expired.
Recertification Methods

There are two possible methods for recertification.

  1. Points method: earn at least 18 qualifying points during the three-year certification period and, at the end of this period, complete the recertification application, or
  2. Exam method: apply for, take and pass the exam again
