As part of its core mission, the NAPCP sponsors research and publishes timely and relevant white papers, survey results and other documents. Collaborating with our partners, we undertake these projects to support Commercial Card and Payment professionals working in the trenches, and the providers who serve them. Heather will provide an update on NAPCP initiatives and feature the latest information in the industry. Details will include:

-discussion on recent survey findings such as the NAPCP Supplier Acceptance and Salary Surveys and RPMG Global P-Card Benchmarking
-best practices related to obtaining management approval and other hot topics as discovered from recent NAPCP polls
-provide the latest resources for managing a Commercial Card program

About the presenter:
Laura Flandrick, CPCP, co-founded the NAPCP in 1999, filling a much-needed void in the Commercial Card and Payment industry. Under her leadership, the NAPCP has flourished into the industry’s leading professional organization, serving a community of more than 19,000 professionals worldwide. In the past 17 years, Laura has worked with co-founder Diane McGuire to support an increasingly sophisticated and technologically advancing industry, providing best practices, cutting-edge research and thought leadership and unparalleled opportunities for networking and education. In her role as relationship manager to the NAPCP’s Partner Sponsors, she maintains the association’s connection to the industry’s leading providers, ensuring that the NAPCP is a respected voice in both the provider and end-user communities. Recently, Laura and Diane led the NAPCP’s commitment to its growing global audience with the introduction of annual EMEA and Canadian conferences and other events, and Web portals dedicated to those geographies.

Before co-founding the NAPCP, Laura managed Cargill’s award-winning Purchasing Card program and acted as Cargill’s eCommerce Supplier relationship manager. Laura also held positions in Cargill’s Tax and International Financial Reporting groups. Laura received her undergraduate degree in accounting and she holds a certified public accountant certificate.

Visa is one of the largest retail payment networks in the world, processing over $10 trillion in payment volume on more than 3 billion cards, connecting over 16,000 issuers to more than 44 million merchants worldwide.

About the presenter:
Orson Morgan is a senior account executive for commercial solutions, state and local government at Visa Inc. In this role, Mr. Morgan is responsible for sales and business development in the state, local and higher education market segments. His responsibilities include strategic partnership, program development, market research and consulting. Prior to joining Visa Inc., Mr. Morgan was vice president, senior card account manager for a national issuing financial institution. 

Mr. Morgan joined Visa Inc. in 2012 after spending eight years on the sales and relationship management side of the card industry, where he was responsible for the strategic development and retention of the corporate and purchasing card programs within the public sector. Responsibilities included helping organizations gain maximum benefit and value from their purchasing and corporate card programs.

An EPIC Future for P-Card
Monica O'Brien, CPCP, Assistant Director, Technology Services, NC State University
Home to the largest P-Card program in the State of North Carolina, NC State University will demonstrate how they transformed their paper statement process into an electronic model with digital approvals.

-engage with leaders in their field on how they achieved 100 percent compliance in regard to receipt images, obtained a business purpose for every P-Card transaction and completely eliminated the use of paper
-
explore the cost savings and benefits of moving into an EPIC process and hear how it can increase compliance in your organization
-observe how incorporating the supervisor of the cardholder into your approval workflow can safeguard your program
-be prepared to see a live demo of how this process works for NC State and hear how you can incorporate this idea into your own P-Card program

About the presenter:
Monica O'Brien, CPCP, is the assistant director of technology services at NC State University. Her 21 years of experience in the Materials Management division includes over seven years as a P-Card program manager, leading what continues to be the largest P-Card program within the State of NC System, accounting for over 20 percent of the entire state's P-Card spend. She has also been responsible for engineering the implementation of the ePayables program and ERP automations such as P-Card electronic approvals and a card center for processing card requests. She is the strategy expert for utilizing Ghost Cards as the payment mechanism for eProcurement orders. Monica continues to support these initiatives while striving to leverage existing technologies to continue growing the P-Card program and enhance the user's experience through intuitive designs.

Embezzlement Involving Financial Transaction Cards: NCSBI Perspective and Case Studies
Special Agent in Charge Chris Cardwell, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Financial Crime Investigations Unit
This presentation will focus on the crime of embezzlement committed using financial transaction cards. The case examples will be specific to North Carolina and will involve large dollar amounts taken from victim entities by trusted managers and employees. Attendees will learn about:

-the SBI and how it gets involved in these cases
-the difference between embezzlement and fraud under North Carolina law
-the SBI approach to financial crime investigations
-specific cases investigated by the SBI and observations about what went wrong for the victim

About the presenter:
Chris Cardwell is the special agent in charge of the Financial Crime Investigations Unit of the NC State Bureau of Investigation. He attended the 29th SBI Academy in 2000 and has investigated and supervised numerous embezzlement and fraud cases over the past 18 years. He previously worked for the NC Office of State Auditor in the Performance Audit Division, and for First Citizens Bank in the Retirement Plan Services Division. Chris is a graduate of Campbell University with bachelor's and master's degrees in Business Administration, a Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators.

NAPCP CANCELLATION POLICY
: If you are unable to attend, please notify us as soon as possible. A partial refund will be issued for cancellations made more than one week prior to the start of the event. An administration fee, equal to 50% of the registration fee, applies.
Registered delegates who do not attend or cancel less than one week prior to the event are liable for the entire fee. Cancellations must be in writing to heidi_kaliher@napcp.org.

PROGRAM CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS: The NAPCP reserves the right to make changes in programs and speakers or to cancel programs if enrollment criteria are not met or when conditions beyond its control prevail. The NAPCP will make every effort to contact each enrollee if a program is cancelled. If a program is not held for any reason, the NAPCP's liability is limited to the refund of the registration fee only.
