This two-day educational workshop is dedicated to enhancing the knowledge of Commercial Card professionals. We will start with the basics, but the focus of the workshop will be on the on-going administration and management of new as well as established P-Card and/or Travel Card programmes and the related best practices. During the workshop, you will participate in an interactive presentation, as well as open discussion around programme challenges and successes. Attendees will have the opportunity to network and exchange ideas and will leave with all the tools necessary to advance their programme(s). Key objectives and agenda are as follows:

Agenda—to be covered over the two-day workshop
Tuesday: 8:00 - 16:30 (8:00 - 8:30 Registration)
Wednesday: 8:00 - 11:30

  • Build the business case for Commercial Cards and strategies to compel management buy-in
  • Identify essential elements of the Commercial Card infrastructure and determine how to evaluate for improvement opportunities, including commonly overlooked best practices
  • Key programme metrics to help you evaluate and benchmark your P-Card programme
  • Establish actions to take as a result of Commercial Card report analysis
  • Create your Commercial Card programme risk analysis
  • Identify programme controls that you might have overlooked
  • Review auditing tips and why your current auditing approach might allow some cardholders to go unnoticed
  • Diversify training and communication tactics for optimal effectiveness
  • Determine ways to raise organizational awareness of the card programme and encourage card usage
  • Share best practices for managing the programme(s)
  • Strategize opportunities for programme optimisation, such as applications for different types of Commercial Cards

Heather Miller, CPCP, MBA, Community Engagement Manager, NAPCP

Heather is the community engagement manager for the NAPCP. Her passion for Commercial Cards started in 2010 when she started managing the card programme for University of Phoenix. There, she served as primary resource to over 4,000 cardholders—creating, managing, and auditing card and travel policies. She joined the NAPCP in 2017 and now collaborates with other members and subscribers to create best practices for card programmes within the U.S., Canada and EMEA region. Heather holds the Certified Purchasing Card Professional (CPCP) credential and is the chairperson of the Purchasing Card Professional Certification Council. She completed her MBA in May 2017 and now spends her free time traveling and watching Denver Broncos football with her family.  

Who Should Attend?

Many individuals can benefit from a comprehensive understanding of Commercial Cards. This workshop is appropriate for professionals from end-user and provider organisations who are:

  • programme managers/administrators familiar with the mechanics and benefits of Commercial Cards, but are seeking to broaden their understanding of P-Card and/or Travel Card programme management
  • individuals tasked with exploring/implementing Commercial Card programme(s) for their organisation
  • managers, directors, vice presidents, etc., whose business lines include the P-Card or Travel Card programme; therefore, core knowledge is a must for supporting the organisation’s overall payments strategy
  • new relationship/account managers who provide support to end-user clients

NAPCP Cancellation Policy If you are unable to attend, please notify us as soon as possible. A partial refund will be issued for cancellations made more than one week prior to the start of the event. An administration fee, equal to 50 percent of the registration fee, applies.
Registered delegates who do not attend or cancel less than one week prior to the event are liable for the entire fee. Cancellations must be in writing to

Programme Changes and Cancellations The NAPCP reserves the right to make changes in programmes and speakers or to cancel programmes if enrollment criteria are not met or when conditions beyond its control prevail. The NAPCP will make every effort to contact each enrollee if a programme is cancelled. If a programme is not held for any reason, the NAPCP's liability is limited to the refund of the registration fee only.
