As part of its core mission, the NAPCP sponsors research and publishes timely and relevant white papers, survey results and other documents. Collaborating with our partners, we undertake these projects to support Commercial Card and Payment professionals working in the trenches, and the providers who serve them. Heather will provide an update on NAPCP initiatives and feature information recently released in the NAPCP Fraud Prevention and Detection Report. Strategies and greater detail will include:

-recent survey findings in the Supplier Acceptance of P-Card and ePayables Payments report conducted by NAPCP and Accenture
-highlights from the NAPCP reports of Purchasing Card Best Practices and Optimizing Revenue Sharing
-special emphasis on the latest resources for managing a Commercial Card program
 

About the speaker:
Heather is the community engagement manager for the NAPCP. Her passion for Commercial Cards started in 2010 when she started managing the card program for Unversity of Phoenix. There, she served as primary resource to over 4,000 cardholders—creating, managing, and auditing card and travel policies. She joined the NAPCP in 2017 and now collaborates with other members and subscribers to create best practices for card programs within the U.S., Canada and EMEA region. Heather holds the Certified Purchasing Card Professional (CPCP) credential and is the chairperson of the Purchasing Card Professional Certification Council. She completed her MBA in May 2017 and now spends her free time traveling and watching Denver Broncos football with her family.

Modernizing Canadian Payments: A Vision for the Canadian Payments Ecosystem

At the heart of our economy is a national payments system, safely circulating billions of dollars each day. The payments system must modernize to support the rapidly changing needs and expectations of the Canadian marketplace, foster innovation and strengthen competition within the payments ecosystem. Throughout the presentation, Paul will provide information on how the audience can best prepare for Modernization.

-explain the current role of Payment Canada in providing Canada's essential payments infrastructure
-explore new trends in how Canada pays, the movement to digital payments and new payment channels
-identify needs of a modern payments system
-reveal Payments Canada's Modernization Payment System Platforms
-describe the core benefits of Modernization for Businesses, Consumers, FIs and Payments System Providers

About the speakers:
Paul is Head, Industry Relations at Payments Canada. He is a senior business development and partnership professional with 15 years of experience in the payments space, most recently at American Express and Visa. While at Visa, Pual and his team supported the successful modernization of payments acceptance infrastructure, including EMV, contactless, mobile pay launches, and mobile acceptance proliferation to name a few. Prior to this, Paul worked in corporate banking and management consulting with leading Canadian and global firms

Joseph Migliacci is a vice president for PNC's International Advisory Team within the Toronto office. In his role, Joseph is responsible for the Canadian oversight of the firms in market development as well as the main liaison with Payments Canada and Canadian Bankers Association. Additionally, Joseph is a leading member of PNC's Commercial Card team ensuring the firm's competitive offering for North American clients. Joseph has over 10 years' experience in treasury product and relationship management at leading North American banks.

10:30 a.m. Develop a Market Leading Card Program for Your Canadian Organization

Working in a new country can be exciting and perplexing for many organizations. The objective of this presentation will be to highlight and identify attributes of the Canadian card program that can positively impact your payables as well as better understand how to seamlessly integrate with existing programs and reporting. Participants will take away specific items that can improve their Canadian operations, which have been listed below. 

-Understanding the Canadian Commercial Card industry and marketplace.
-How can implementing a North American Card program benefit your organization?
-Unlocking key attributes of your Canadian Card program that will provide positive results to your organization.
-Highlighting the commonalities between U.S. and Canada as it relates to your card program and how they will improve day-to-day operations.
-Leveraging Canada to promote best practices in unlocking card potential and decreasing the cost of issuing payments.

Expansion — Picking the Low Hanging Fruit

Is it possible to expand your Purchasing Card program without implementing new payment solutions or technologies? Are you working for the program instead of the program working for you? Is your AP department still paying small dollar invoices? To effectively expand your Purchasing Card Program, you must start at the bottom by capturing spend that is costing you more than the "Total Due" amount. Join Louise as she guides you through an interactive session where you will leave with the ability to:

-identify new areas of spend you can include in your P-Card program
-analyze your current invoices to continue steady expansion growth
-how to identify new payment solutions that may be beneficial to your program
-expand your program into different department programs (relocation programs, etc.)
-find the right balance between expanding and controlling the program
-discuss examples of "Low Hanging Fruit" with your peers

About the speaker:
An experienced Accounting & Finance Manager with over 25 years of varied experience. Louise’s work with Tier 1 ERPs across different areas has given her the necessary knowledge and experience to implement and improve P2P, Travel Expense, Corporate Card Administration, and Cash Management processes.  Her current portfolio also includes system support for General Ledger (GL), and Financial Planning. Continuous improvement goals and the application of new technologies are what drive her. Recent system implementations and process improvements have reduced time and effort in the P2P cycle by half.

NAPCP CANCELLATION POLICY
: If you are unable to attend, please notify us as soon as possible. A partial refund will be issued for cancellations made more than one week prior to the start of the event. An administration fee, equal to 50% of the registration fee, applies.
Registered delegates who do not attend or cancel less than one week prior to the event are liable for the entire fee. Cancellations must be in writing to heidi_kaliher@napcp.org.

PROGRAM CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS: The NAPCP reserves the right to make changes in programs and speakers or to cancel programs if enrollment criteria are not met or when conditions beyond its control prevail. The NAPCP will make every effort to contact each enrollee if a program is cancelled. If a program is not held for any reason, the NAPCP's liability is limited to the refund of the registration fee only.
