Senior executives (CFO’s, VP’s of Finance, treasurers, finance directors, controllers and others) at large worldwide organizations were surveyed regarding their view on economic growth as well as plans for spending in 2018. Technology spending has been focused on cybersecurity and the protection of sensitive data related to customers, suppliers and employees. Over the longer term finance executives felt most likely to see artificial intelligence, robotics and automation as sources of change in their industries. Highest priority business goals continued to be better meeting customer needs, entering new markets, and improving financial returns to owners. Business transformation and innovation rose to 35% in 2018 as the highest priority verses 24% in 2017. Improving administrative process efficiency dropped from 47% in 2017 to 32% in 2018, although second only to developing new products or services. Mobile technology tops the list with respect to increased spending.
